Super Snow Moon

Let's be real, the first month of 2020 was overwhelming. The amount of energy that we felt during this time was major. The year started off with a bang, however, as we journey through this new decade, each month will become more and more tolerable. Growth is forever a journey.

Following the lunar month calendar, the Indigenous tribes traditionally named the February moon as the 'Snow Moon,' since this time of year had the largest amount of snowfall. On February 9th, the sky will be lit with the first Super Full Moon of the year. A Super Moon occurs when the moon is closest to the Earth, as it moves its orbit, making it appear brighter and larger than usual. This incredibly luminous Super Moon will bring us heightened energy as our subconscious awareness will be increased during this time. Radiant vibrations will clear away all that dims our light and will make us feel more connected to our journey.

This month's Full Moon lands in the sign of Leo. Leo is ruled by the Sun, therefore, we may experience an energy portal shift that shines a divine light down on those that are feeling heavy and/or dark during this time. As a fire sign, Leo's energy comes to tend to the fire that lives within our hearts. This Full Moon also forms a harmonious alignment with the planet of motivation, Mars. Mars’ energy will help inspire us to push past any fears or blockage that is keeping our inner light small.

The first Mercury Retrograde of the year takes place on February 18th. During this is a time, reevaluate your life and take a step back from the hectic pace of today’s world.  Not all retrogrades bring negative energy. In fact, it's actually calling on us to slow things down as Mercury appears to be going backwards, but in reality it's just moving very slowly.

Allow some space for this Full Moon to start moving and shifting things out of your body, your mind and your soul. Full Moons are portals for releasing, therefore, if we tune in and allow the Full Moon’s energy to infuse with our own, we will find ourselves letting go of what no longer serves us. This cosmic alignment is here to remind us that life is meant to be experienced, not controlled.

This month's Full Moon is a time to connect to our higher selves, and a time to connect to our own inner Sun; the core of who we are. In astrology, the core of who we are is represented by the Sun, and with the Full Moon in the ruler of the Sun, we can take this time to dive deep into our souls and seek the truth of our reality.

Bless.
