Buck Moon

The Full Buck Moon received it's name from the Algonquin Native Americans, as July was a time when the young buck’s antlers began to grow. This month's moon is also known as the "Thunder Moon," as the Algonquins would experience a month packed with thunderstorms.

Tonight, the skies will light up in Capricorn, as we will also be experiencing a lunar eclipse. The Full Moon, will be partially hidden by the shadow of the Earth, creating an alignment that will bring new insights and information to the surface. The energy from this Eclipse will be intense, as energy will flow from the darkness and bring to light things that we must release during this time. While releasing and endings are a big theme of this Eclipse, so is expanding your body, mind and soul to new vibrations.

Under the energy of this Eclipse, we may feel like we are being stretched to our limits or pulled in two different directions. We may feel torn between two decisions, or might be in a position to choose a new path. A decision will have to be made, but the Eclipse will be your guide and will deliver the answers in the right timing. During this time, work on letting go of things that no longer serve you. By letting go, you are allowing the universe to bring you more, as long as there is space in your heart and mind.

When an intense Eclipse like this passes through our energy field, we may feel a little stuck or stagnant, and this can add to the need to question things like our motivation. This questioning is necessary as it gets us to stretch our minds to think differently for a change. It allows us to open to new vibrations and possibilities. We begin to think about the things that are serving us and the things that are no longer.

As of July 7th, Mercury has been in retrograde and will continue to be until July 31st. Retrogrades are tough enough as it is, but this one will actually move through two signs: Leo and Cancer. You’ll be experiencing two very different retrograde energies: Leo’s bold, overly confident and obnoxious showoff style of communication and Cancer’s mood-swinging, sensitive, needy type of energy. When the planet that rules communication, technology, and our thought processes stations retrograde, during a Full Moon AND an Eclipse, you can only imagine the type of unexpected energy it will bring. Take this time to reflect inwards; set your intensions, meditate on your goals, and stay one with the universe.

Take this time also to cleanse and charge your crystals under the Sun during the day and the Moon by night. Your crystals need to be cleansed periodically to get rid of any residue energies so that they can function at their highest capacity.

The July 16th Eclipse is one of the most potent and transformative points of the year. Capricorn is represented by the mountain goat, and although it is small, it has the ability to climb any mountain it chooses.
